Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how we use your personal information. As used in this policy, the term “personal information” means information that can be directly associated with an individual, and includes names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, etc.

Information Collected

When you make contributions on Stituency, we are required to collect your name, postal address, phone number, email address, occupation and employer, and to send this information along with your donation. Each candidate, committee, or organization receiving your donations may also include this information in their regulatory reports. Stituency submits its campaign finance reports on a rolling basis, as required by state and/or federal law. FEC reports containing this information are publicly available from the FEC web site. State reports are typically available through the state agency designated to oversee campaigns and elections.

Credit Card Information

We use a third party payment processor to process payments made to us. In connection with the processing of such payments, we do not retain any personally identifiable information or any financial information such as credit card numbers. Rather, all such information is provided directly to our third party processor, Stripe, whose use of your personal information is governed by their privacy policy, which may be viewed at https://stripe.com/us/privacy.

Information Uses

Stituency will not sell or rent to any third party any of the personal information or data that you provide to us. Stituency uses the Personal Data you provide in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. If you provide Personal Data for a certain reason, we may use the Personal Data in connection with the reason for which it was provided. For instance, if you contact us by email, we will use the Personal Data you provide to answer your question or resolve your problem. Also, if you provide Personal Data to obtain access to the Stituency Services, we will use your Personal Data to provide you with access to such services and to monitor your use of such services. Stituency and its subsidiaries and affiliates (the " Stituency Related Companies") may also use your Personal Data and other personally non-identifiable information collected through the Services to help us improve the content and functionality of the Services, to better understand our users and to improve the Stituency Services. Stituency and its affiliates may use this information to contact you in the future to tell you about services we believe will be of interest to you. If we do so, each communication we send you will contain instructions permitting you to "opt-out" of receiving future communications. In addition, if at any time you wish not to receive any future communications, or you wish to have your name deleted from our mailing lists, please contact us at info@stituency.org.

If Stituency intends on using any Personal Data in any manner that is not consistent with this Privacy Policy, you will be informed of such anticipated use prior to or at the time at which the Personal Data is collected.

Information Sharing

You can visit the Services without providing any Personal Data. If you choose not to provide any Personal Data, you may not be able to use certain Stituency Services.

Stituency is not in the business of selling your information. We consider this information to be a vital part of our relationship with you. There are, however, certain circumstances in which we may share your Personal Data with certain third parties without further notice to you, as set forth below:

Business Transfers: As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event, Personal Data may be part of the transferred assets.
Related Companies: We may also share your Personal Data with our Related Companies for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.
Agents, Consultants and Related Third Parties: Stituency, like many businesses, sometimes hires other companies to perform certain business-related functions. Examples of such functions include mailing information, maintaining databases and processing payments. When we employ another company to perform a function of this nature, we only provide them with the information that they need to perform their specific function.
Legal Requirements: Stituency may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend the rights or property of Stituency, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.
Cookies

Some parts of the Stituency site use cookies. A “cookie” is a tiny text file that is stored on your computer and enables you to return to password-protected areas on our website, without having to re-enter your password. You can disable these cookies by modifying your web browser preferences.

IP Addresses

We log IP addresses, which are the locations of computers or networks on the Internet, and analyze them for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. We also aggregate the number of page hits to track the popularity of certain pages and improve the quality of our site.

Children

Stituency does not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifying information from children under the age of 13. In fact, Stituency does not permit contributions from minors under the age of 18 without parental consent.

Links to Other Web Sites

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Services. The Services may contain links to other web sites not operated or controlled by Stituency (the "Third-Party Sites"). The policies and procedures we described here do not apply to the Third-Party Sites. The links from the Services do not imply that Stituency endorses or has reviewed the Third-Party Sites. We suggest contacting those sites directly for information on their privacy policies.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

The Services and our business may change from time to time. As a result, at times it may be necessary for Stituency to make changes to this Privacy Policy. Stituency reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time and from time to time. If we do this, we will post the changes to this Privacy Policy on this page and will indicate at the bottom of this page the date these terms were last revised. We will also notify you, either through the Service user interface, in an email notification or through other reasonable means. Please review this policy periodically, and especially before you provide any Personal Data. Any such changes will become effective no earlier than fourteen (14) days after they are posted, except that changes addressing new functions of the Service or changes made for legal reasons will be effective immediately. This Privacy Policy was last updated on the date indicated below. Your continued use of the Service after the date any such changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
